Unlike last year when there were back-to-back episodes, viewers will only be treated to a one hour episode in which host Nick Cannon will introduce some of the new celebrity contestants vying for the gold mask. With less than two months until the seventh installment kicks off, the popular competition show announced the exciting news on social media. “Lucky #7 is coming! 🍀🎠Get ready for the Season 7 premiere of #TheMaskedSinger March 9 on @foxtv,” the show’s official Instagram wrote.

Shortly after, Masked Singer fans got their first look at the new season. A minute-long promo video featured six characters. A brief glance at the upcoming lineup reveals that there will be a frog prince, a firefly, a knight with ram horns, a one-eyed monster, a woodland space creature and a lemur.

According to the clip, the season 7 celebrity contestants will be put into three groups called “The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly,” instead of the usual Group A, Group B and Group C. Variety reports that the participants will be competing against each other and won’t be limited to their group.

On February 2, Deadline revealed that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was unmasked as a contestant on The Masked Singer season 7. Per the outlet, he will be featured in a March episode. This revelation raised a lot of eyebrows online, but Fox didn’t comment on the incident.
Who will be The Masked Singer season 7 judges and host?
According to Deadline, Nick will continue to host the singing competition. Longtime Masked Singer judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke will also be returning to the show. All four celebrity panelists have been pillars of the show since the first season in 2019.
That said, fans have become familiar with regular guest panelist comedian Joel McHale and actress Niecy Nash, and many are wondering if the two will be making appearances again. Viewers may remember that Niecy stepped in to guest host for Nick after he reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
Will there be another Masked Singer spin-off?
The Masked Singer fans have certainly heard of The Masked Dancer, a spin-off inspired by a segment from The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The first season premiered in December 2020 and it was recently renewed for a second season.
Now, there is more news about another Masked Singer spin-off. In November 2021, Deadline reported that Masked Singer creator Wonwoo Park signed a development deal with Fox, and he already has his first project. Based on his Korean competition show Lotto Singer, the new singing show will allow viewers to bet on contestants’ performances and win cash prizes. Given that it’s still in the early stages no premiere date has been set but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more info!
