Wilmer Valderrama and Katrina Law might have said goodbye to Vanessa Lachey after the NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i special crossover event. But the trio reunited shortly after in real life at the 2022 PaleyFest. What’s more, the rest of the NCIS, NCIS: Hawai’i and NCIS: Los Angeles casts were in attendance, as well. But one person missing from the exciting action was Mark Harmon, a.k.a. Gibbs.
ICYMI: The Paley Center for Media recently brought together the casts of critically acclaimed TV shows in person for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic impacted the U.S. in March 2020. Among the invitees were Wilmer and his NCIS crew, with whom he made sure to snap a picture with. In the photo, the Encanto actor smiles alongside Katrina, Sean Murray, Brian Dietzen and Diona Reasonover.
But perhaps his biggest piece of info was hidden in his caption about the next time viewers would see them on their small screens. “These great people, they bring me so much joy on set,” he captioned the selfie on Instagram. “#NCIS back on April 18th.”

That’s right — there will be no new season 19 episode of NCIS this Monday night. Instead, the hit CBS drama will return next week. Understandably, folks were itching to see what was going to happen next on the show and didn’t hesitate to send out a collective cry. “Come back already!! Love you guys!!” one person wrote. “I set it on my calendar already I’m starting the countdown,” another added.
While many were bummed about the slight interruption in the airing schedule, others were ecstatic to see the NCIS cast together. “Best picture ever ❤️ love you guys,” a follower commented. That said, others couldn’t help but bring up the show’s former special agent in charge. “Missing Gibbs,” a different fan said. “I would like to respectfully ask, is Mark Harmon ever coming back? I miss Gibbs!!” someone else asked on Twitter.
As folks might already know, the character was last seen at the beginning of NCIS season 19. After an abrupt goodbye left fans in shambles, questions about the actor and his character haven’t ceased. Mark continues working on the show behind the scenes as an executive producer. For the special in-person event, Mark wasn’t spotted when the NCIS, NCIS: Hawai’i and NCIS: LA casts got together up on stage on April 10.
Despite Mark’s no show, some chose to celebrate a silver lining for the hit procedural series. “Thankful for another season 🙌👏,” a fan wrote, referencing the recent news that NCIS will have a historic 20th season. After the show returns next Monday, there will only be a handful of episodes left to catch the beloved Washington D.C.-based group.
