Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez broke the news of their surprise Las Vegas wedding on Sunday, one day after the Saturday nuptials. And Affleck’s ex-wife, Jenner Garner, popped on Instagram to just let her followers know where she spent her weekend—in an idyllic place far from the Las Vegas city. Garner posted a selfie of herself smiling at California’s Lake Tahoe on Sunday.
Lopez and Affleck got married Saturday night in Vegas.
Lopez wrote in her On the JLo newsletter, “Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world….We barely made it to the little white wedding chapel by midnight. They graciously stayed open late a few minutes, let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, evidently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed). So with the best witnesses you could ever imagine, a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet, we read our own vows in the little chapel and gave one another the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives. They even had Bluetooth for a (short) march down the aisle. But in the end it was the best possible wedding we could have imagined. One we dreamed of long ago and one made real (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible and one another) at very, very long last.”
Garner is supportive of Lopez and Affleck’s relationship.
In April, a source got intel for E! on how Garner felt about Affleck and Lopez getting engaged. “Ben told Jen and the kids, so they knew about it,” a source close to Garner said. “Jen is happy for Ben and knows that J.Lo has been a positive influence in certain ways.”
A source spoke to Entertainment Tonight in late March about how Garner felt about Affleck and Lopez’s relationship being so serious they were on the verge of getting engaged. “Jen Garner and Ben get along well. She is understanding and supportive of Jen and Ben’s relationship,” the source said. “She knows Ben is doing well all around and at the end of the day, she just wants what’s best for the kids and for things to be seamless and unproblematic. She wants everyone to be happy and healthy and her kids are always the priority. Everyone is feeling good at this point and looking forward to the future.”
