Life sometimes imitates art and Reba McEntire knows this all too well.
Just a few weeks back on July 21, the upcoming Big Sky actress found herself doing a photoshoot with longtime boyfriend (and future co-star) Rex Linn. Dressed in casual outfits, the twosome looked to be enjoying posing for pictures alongside a river stream. But their private time didn’t last too long because her former Reba co-star Melissa Peterman showed up to capture her own version of the cute couple moment.
“We were just trying to do a quick photo shoot,” the “Fancy” singer jokingly captioned the clip on Instagram. “And then she showed up … “
As fans of the hit sitcom recall, Melissa played Barbra Jean Hart. Although her and Reba’s titular character got off to a rough start, the two women eventually become good friends. Unsurprisingly, viewers of the show were excited to see the mini TV reunion. What’s more, some wondered what Melissa’s random appearance on social media could possibly mean.
“Calling for a Reba reboot👏👏👏👏,” one person wrote in the Instagram comments section. “Love Reba and Melissa ❤️❤️,” another added. “Lol! She’s still stalking you? Lolololololol 😂,” a different fan said, referencing Barbra Jean iconic behavior on the show.
Luckily, the calls for a Reba TV reunion are sort of coming true. The “I’m a Survivor” songstress and the Baby Daddy actress will reunite onscreen for Lifetime’s The Hammer next year. The duo will play sisters who are total opposites of one another and judging from the movie’s first look, that’s putting it mildly.

As for their real-life friendship, the former co-stars have always kept in touch since Reba ended in 2007. They’ve not only worked on various projects together, they have also maintained a lasting and special bond.
“I would, to this day consider her one of my best friends,” Melissa told Fox News about her camaraderie with Reba in August 2019. “She’s got my back … We texted just last week, we just spent a weekend together at a mutual friend’s wedding not so long ago and she’s truly one of the people I can count on.”
