The queen has arrived — Angela Bassett, that is — and she’s looking more regal than ever in her latest purple ensemble.
Known for her role as Queen Ramonda in the Marvel universe, the Emmy-nominated actress joined the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiere on October 26. The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles rolled out the red — or purple, rather — carpet for Angela and fellow castmates Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Michaela Coel, among others.
The 9-1-1 actress’ presence seemed ethereal as she graced the event in a flowy strapless dress with peplum-style silhouette. Like the pleated layers she wore, she shimmered as she smiled and posed. Designed by Moschino, the gown’s sparkly, vibrant purple popped against the star’s skin, while its daring slit at the legs revealed complementary glittery pink pumps.
She completed the look with a soft lavender wash on her eyelid and a natural lip. Styling her hair into a side part slicked at one side, her voluminous curls rested above her collarbones and showcased dangling silver earrings. Her décolletage was free of jewelry, which emphasized the outfit’s plunging neckline.
Angela’s stylist for the premiere, Jennifer Austin, shared a shot of the star striking a fierce hand-on-hip pose in the same outfit. She wrote on Instagram, “The Queen Mother @im.angelabassett for the premiere of Black Panther 2.”
Marvel and 9-1-1 fans alike seemed to hype up her look as they flooded the comments with purple hearts and flame emojis. “On point!!!! 🙌🏾💜💜💜💜🔥🔥🔥🔥 [You] understood the assignment!!!!” one person wrote. “Sis, we are just not worthy of your talent!” another added. “You kill it … 👏🏿 EVERY 👏🏿 SINGLE 👏🏿 TIME!! 💜💜💜” a different fan said.
Amid stepping out for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Angela is also celebrating season 6 of 9-1-1 on which she plays Athena Grant Nash. The hit Fox drama created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk airs new episodes on Monday nights. And just as infatuated we are with her on-screen, we can’t wait to see her next stunning look offscreen.
