Singer Sara James set out to give an inspiring performance and earn a spot in America’s Got Talent season 17 finals — and she’s done just that.
When she sang “Lovely” by Billie Eilish at her AGT audition, she shared that she chose that song because it was “emotional.” She instantly provoked a passionate response from the judges’ panel. “You have a real star glow about you,” AGT judge Simon Cowell told Sara before hitting the golden buzzer.
After winning over Simon, she swiftly advanced to the live shows. From there, the aspiring singer captivated folks at home with her powerful rendition of Elton John’s “Rocket Man.” During the third quarterfinal results night, the AGT live audience chanted Sara’s name moments before host Terry Crews revealed that she snagged the third spot in the finals.

“That song choice was genius by the way,” Simon said about Elton’s rock hit. “You’ve heard the expression ‘Make a song your own.’ Well, that’s what you did.”
Reacting to her latest performance, fans immediately started celebrating her on Twitter. Some even predicted that she will be the winner of AGT season 17. “Sara could have just skipped AGT and went on @NBCTheVoice and won that easy,” one person tweeted.
While AGT fans wait to see Sara’s next performance in the upcoming season 17 finals, there’s a lot to learn about her past. Like Howie Mandel reminded Simon, the contestant on the NBC singing competition show is only 14 years old. Hailing from the small town of Ośnie Lubuskie in Poland, Sara always had a big dream of singing in America. Her first visit to the U.S. was made even more special because it was for the show.

Although she’s young, Sara has experience competing and winning singing shows. Before AGT, she starred in season 4 of The Voice Kids in Poland. She was crowned the winner in April 2021. In December of that same year, the talented vocalist represented Poland in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. After Sara performed the bilingual tune “Somebody,” she went home in second place behind Maléna from Armenia.
