- Jamie Lee Curtis’ latest throwback Instagram is a total gem.
- In it, a teenage Curtis is carefree at a ’70s roller skating rink, a cigarette in hand.
- Curtis shared the memory with a warning: “DON’T SMOKE!”
Jamie Lee Curtis is having quite the year—news just broke that her film Everything Everywhere All at Once is leading 2023 Oscar nominations with 11 recognitions, including one for Best Picture. In the midst of all of the Oscar buzz on social media, Curtis took the time to share a picture from another exciting time in her life: her teenage years. The star delighted fans with the ’70s rollerskating pic and we are so here for it.
The post was actually a re-share from Lost Canyons LA, an account that shares snippets of history, music, art, and fashion from Laurel Canyon and Los Angeles’ other iconic canyon communities, per the page’s bio.
In the first of three photos, at what appears to be a roller skating rink, young Curtis smiles at the camera wearing a “Crosby’s Killers” baseball tee, bell bottom jeans, and knee pads. She’s also holding a cigarette. In re-sharing the post—along with the brief history of Curtis’ life that accompanied it—Curtis had one comment to add: “DON’T SMOKE!”
The other two photos picture a baby and toddler-aged Curtis with her family—her parents Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, as well as her older sister, Kelly Curtis. Fans loved all of the shots.
“It seems that every child had that haircut in the ’60s!! I know my mom sure did!” one person commented. “It’s the knee pads for me….🔥😂,” another added. “OMG! The ’60s. This picture could have been taken at my house. 😎” someone else wrote.
The snap definitely holds its own next to Curtis’ other most loved throwbacks, including the one from her very own Jane Fonda Klute-inspired haircut days, a naked spooky bathtub soak that paid homage to Halloween, and a Perfect movie throwback featuring John Travolta that brought all the ’80s aerobics nostalgia.
If one thing’s for sure, it’s that Curtis has lived a very full life—and continues to do so. We wish her and her cast mates (including her costar Michelle Yeoh) the best of luck, and in the meantime, can’t wait to see what memory she shares next.
