So….how did you make it uglier than it ever could have been before? You literally aged it and chose one of the worst contact papers I have ever seen. Even a grandmother's drapes have more style. I recommend learning the art of less is more.
The first piece was beautiful by itself. If anything>> It Deserved better than a 1960 geometric decal on it.. UGHYUCK!!!!… and the Secretary… was only Half YUCK. It could have been sanded and restained in a lighter color with an interior as being lighter and airy.. If you must put fabric down do it with a good quality fabric and pattern and shellac it so that you CAN USE IT TO WRITE LETTERS ON A SMOOTH SURFACE… and maybe the drawers done in black paint Maybe the flat piece in black. but this was NOT Navy. Navy is much more heavy color and dark. I may be too attached to the fact that these beautiful Vintage pieces should STAY VINTAGE PIECES!!!!! but No. I don't think you did them justice. and the fabric inside the Secretary was not my idea of an Upgrade.

Ugh…just stop with ruining mid century pieces in good condition with crappy paint jobs. And learn to sand with the damn grain.
You said the 1980s piece is vintage! Thanks for making me feel old! That's the first time I've heard the '80s referred to as vintage.
Omg! Cringed as to what you did to the writing desk
On the first one I definitely would've resealed or stained the parts of the door that had been sanded but not painted! :/
I liked it way better before than after.
