It’s time for more business deals! Shark Tank is officially back on ABC with the premiere of season 14 on September 23. The show’s crew will return to the board room in the hopes of coming across an impressive entrepreneurial idea to invest their money in. As one of the originals, Robert Herjavec has found himself as a partner in a number of deals, including Tipsy Elves and Nuts-‘N-More. But reality TV hasn’t just given him success in business. It also helped him find love with his wife of six years, former Dancing With the Stars professional dancer Kym Johnson.
The couple’s romance started out like most celebrity relationships — in front of the camera. In February 2015, it was revealed Robert would be one of 12 celebrities joining the 20th season of Dancing With the Stars. There, the recently divorced businessman was partnered up with the two-time DWTS champion and they developed an instant connection.
“I don’t do anything for publicity,” he told People amid rumors about having a relationship with Kym offscreen. “From the moment I met her, I love hanging out with her. We are having a great time.”
While Robert and Kym’s time on Dancing With the Stars ended with their elimination during week eight, their romance was just getting started.
The couple dated throughout the rest of 2015, and he proposed to his dancer girlfriend in February of the next year. On July 31, 2016, the duo got married in front of close family and friends at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles.
“I never thought I’d get married again,” he told People right after the ceremony. “I worried I’d become bitter or an old cat guy. But at the end of the day, everybody wants to connect to another human being. When I met Kym, it was just effortless.”
Like most marriages, the wedding wasn’t the end of the story. Just two years after their wedding, the couple welcomed twins Hudson and Haven to their brood via IVF, which included Robert’s three children from his previous marriage: Caprice, Skye and Brandon. They both shared the news on their respective Instagram accounts, and they continue to share their lives with their kids as they grow up.
While it seems like their relationship moved relatively fast, the two are extremely supportive of each other. Robert has even taken to calling Kym’s balance of business and motherhood something akin to a superhero.
“She’s incredible. Wonder Woman has nothing on my wife,” he told Us Weekly in May 2019. “Twins flying commercial to Australia for 15 hours by herself … She put one on each suitcase. They get strapped in. They’re going through the airport and they’re bouncing around perfectly.”
No matter where they are or how quickly their kids grow up, Kym and Robert know they have one thing to thank for their marriage. Without ever competing together on Dancing With the Stars, the couple wouldn’t be where they are today.
“5 years @robertherjavec 💕,” Kym wrote on Instagram in July 2021 for their fifth wedding anniversary. “To think that it all started with a dance 💕.”
