Yellowstone fans, get ready to join the Dutton family in their fight to defend the ranch … on a board game, that is.
As the premiere of Yellowstone season 5 approaches and Paramount Network puts the final touches on the new episodes, the show is releasing its own Monopoly game for the entire family to enjoy. To make it Yellowstone-themed, players can buy, sell and trade iconic locations, including Kayce (Luke Grimes) and Monica (Kelsey Asbille)’s house and the Painted Horse casino and hotel.
But ahead of the game’s official launch on October 10, Yellowstone fans immediately noticed an important person missing — the one and only John Dutton himself, a.k.a. Kevin Costner. Apart from Kayce and Monica appearing in the artwork, Beth (Kelly Reilly), Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Rip (Cole Hauser) are also featured. That said, there’s no sign of Kevin’s character — and folks had something to say about it when Yellowstone posted about the new game on Instagram.
“Where is Kevin Costner? I won’t buy it without seeing him. He’s the whole show❣️,” one person wrote in the show’s Instagram comments. “Love the concept, but can you guys explain why Costner isn’t on the board, more [or] less front and center????? Blasphemy,” another added. “I would have ordered one already ❤️ What are they thinking? 🤷🏻♀️,” a different fan said.
Still, some speculated that the Dutton patriarch was present in a subtle way. “I’m guessing that’s him on the horse in the silhouette up top,” a follower commented. “I’m sorry but he needed to be upfront and center with [everyone] else next to him or behind him 😕 definitely not a silhouette of him,” someone else chimed in.
That said, most Yellowstone fans were simply excited to get their own game to play during season 5 and the upcoming holiday season. “My Christmas Wish List Just Got A Little Bigger!!!!!!! ✨🌟💫🐴🤠🔥😍👏,” a fan quipped. “How cool!! 😂👏👏👏❤️,” another said. “I love this and so ready for the show to come back on,” a person replied.
In case you’re wondering how you can get your own, pre-ordering is now available on the Yellowstone official site. According to the product’s description, the first batch of orders will ship out on October 10 and the second on November 15.
