Mayim Bialik is showing folks a different, more personal side of herself.
During an episode of her mental health podcast Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown, the Jeopardy! host opened up about what it’s like to be a single mom to teenage sons, Frederick and Miles. As she talked about various scenarios she’s had to navigate with them, the Call Me Kat actress shared that her parenting style involves acknowledging that she needs time to figure out a proper response.
“What I learned to say to them is, I’ve never been your parent with you at the age you’re at with me at the place I’m at in my life until this moment,” The Big Bang Theory star said in a clip posted to TikTok. “So, give me a second, because I don’t have all the answers.”
As she carried on the conversation, Mayim further explained why she chooses to thoughtfully come up with solutions. According to the Blossom alum, she hasn’t been in their shoes before and she wants to bring inclusivity within reason in her parenting decisions. (In case you’re wondering, she shares her two sons with her ex-husband Michael Stone.)
“I’ve never lived through their childhood with them to know how to handle things,” she said in the video. “I need a minute because we have to figure this out together. I’m still your parent. I still know what I’m doing. We’re not besties, but we’re in this together.”
When Jeopardy! and Big Bang Theory fans caught wind of Mayim’s unique perspective on social media, they immediate let her know how much they agreed with her approach.
“One of the best answers I’ve ever heard bravo!” one person commended her on TikTok. “Wow!! What an amazing way to parent. Love this ❤️,” another wrote. “So great to say you don’t have all the answers 🥰,” a different fan responded.
While Mayim doesn’t make it a habit to discuss her children regularly, she has made fun of mom life on social media. Earlier this year, she shared a TikTok where she jokingly reflected on having a “tired mom moment” with many of her followers easily relating to her. She’s also been known to occasionally post photos of her kids’ milestones, like baking a proper dessert.
