The very talented and knowledgable @Gertie has returned to Good Housekeeping to share her thoughts about Ryland Adams’ video where he tries sewing for the first time to make a suit for his wedding. Watch along with Gertie to hear her tips and tricks for beginner sewers and to see how she graded Ryland’s attempts. Can you say “jabot”?

Velvet…yeah. Try sewing a satin ribbon to velvet. You will need about 8000 pins to prevent stuff from sliding all over the place. Good times.
I can't stop laughing 😂 😂 😂
I definitely had flashbacks to my first experience
I went upstairs the other night and I couldn’t sleep with out dreaming of seams. Finally got up read a murder mystery.
I can’t stand to watch him.
I think he did very well going from never sewing to making pants etc well done to him
Gertie is adorable and sooooo positive!
We need all the Gertie videos! Love her!
Omg Gertie!! This totally needs to be a series of videos!!!
He definitely had help! You can't construct that as a beginner, shoddy as it is, with a zipper! Without help 😂
I love @Gertie! She helped me start sewing and her skirt tutorial was the first garment I sewed, five years later and never looked back, thank you Gertie!
I see ryland and I click. I found gertie and I fall down the fabric hole.
